Social Insurance Number Clinic for International Students - January 27
Looking for seasonal work this semester? Preparing for your Co-op work term? Getting an early start on looking for summer employment? If so, you will need to get a Social Insurance Number (SIN). This is requirement of employment by the Government of Canada. Service Canada will be on campus hosting a drop-in session to help international students apply for a SIN card on Jan. 27, 2023.

Carleton Ethnography Lab Event - January 27
The Meaning of City Spaces After the Convoy: A Student Mapping Exercise will be held on Jan. 27, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Richcraft Hall, room 3228. "When the "Freedom Convoy" occupied Ottawa for three weeks in the winter of 2022, it radically impacted how Carleton students were able to move through the

BOG Seeking Student Governors
Carleton's Board of Governors is seeking Expressions of Interest to fill two graduate student spots as Student Governors for the 2023/2024 Board Year. Students will be selected by their respective student bodies to be considered for nomination to the Board, and once confirmed will serve a one-year term from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
Deadline to express interest is Jan. 27, 2023.

Richard Van Loon Scholarship
The Richard Van Loon Scholarship has been created to reward an outstanding international student from an African country. Eligible recipients must be a full-time student proceeding from one year to another in any program at Carleton University with a valid study permit. Consideration will be given to students in financial need. Deadline to apply is Feb.

Trajectories Workshops for Winter 2023 Now On
Trajectories is a professional development program that offers graduate students the opportunity to enhance their transferable skills and earn non-credit certificates. Participants interested in earning a certificate attend core and elective workshops, complete self-reflection exercises, and prepare a one-year action plan—all while receiving individual guidance throughout the process.

Exemption from International Fees If you are an international student and are a Protected Person, Permanent Resident, Visitor with Work Permit, Diplomatic, or Legal Dependent (of prior groups), you may be eligible to pay domestic rather than international tuition fees. The deadline to submit documentation for Winter 2023 fee

International Students: Making Friends in Canada Workshop
As we have returned to in-person interactions on campus, many of us are looking to meet new friends and build community. After two years of remote learning, making new friends may feel uncomfortable, but the International Student Services Office and Health and Counselling Services are here to help. Join the Making Friends in Canada workshop on Feb. 2, 2023 for graduate students. In this 90-minute session, students will: - Recognize how culture impacts our beliefs and behaviours when making friends;
- Explore 3 main stages of meaningful conversations;
- Identify key campus events and everyday
opportunities for starting meaningful conversations;
- Practice skills in a safe environment through one-on-one role playing and scenarios.

Sheryl Lightfoot will be coming to Carleton on Feb. 1, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to talk about Indigenous Disruptions: How Indigenous Self-Determination Practices Can Deepen & Expand International Theory. Sheryl Lightfoot (Anishinaabe, Lake Superior Band) is Canada Research Chair of Global Indigenous Rights and Politics at the University of British Columbia, where she holds faculty appointments in Political Science and the School of Public Policy and
Global Affairs. She serves as the vice-chair and North American Member on the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) as well as senior advisor to the UBC President on Indigenous Affairs.

What is this? A call for students to submit original poems and songs to encourage artistic engagement in the Carleton community. Who can participate?
