This update is designed to keep you informed about what’s happening across the region’s highways and help you plan ahead. Southland highways with work this week
SH1 Kennington to Gore |

Invercargill to DunedinSH1 Kennington to north of Gore: Crews will clear tree and vegetation debris from weather events at various locations from 21 to 23 January. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. SH93 Old Coach Road west of Kaiwera: Chip sealing and road stabilisation work will take place from 19 to 21 January, from 8am to 5pm. Delays of up to ten minutes are expected. SH93 Old Coach Road east of Kaiwera: Crews will clear tree and vegetation debris from weather events on 20 January. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. SH1 Waipahi Highway near Pukerau: Sealing work will take place on 20 January from 8am to 5pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. SH1 Dunedin Green Island Southern Motorway night closures: Southbound closure 18 to 22 January from 8pm to 6am, for essential road surface replacement work. Full road closure with detours that may add 5 to 10 minutes to your journey. Follow all detour and advisory signs. |

Invercargill and Queenstown to Milford SoundSH6 Winton Lorneville Highway near Wilsons Crossing Road: Pavement repairs will take place from 21 to 23 January. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected SH6 Athol-Five Rivers Highway at Jollies Hill: Sealing work will take place on 19 January from 8am to 5pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. Is this water cutting? SH94 Te Anau to Milford Highway at Sinclair Road: Road rebuild work will continue until 31 January from 7am to 6pm. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. SH94 Te Anau to Milford Highway near Lower Hollyford Road: Chip sealing work will take place on 22 January, from 8am to 5pm. Delays of up to ten minutes are expected. |

Work on key state highways across SouthlandSH90 between Waikaka Road and Cunningham Road: A road rebuild will continue Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm until around 31 March. Traffic will be managed by temporary traffic lights with a 30 km/h speed limit. SH96 Glencoe: Road stabilising repairs will take place near Glencoe from 19 to 23 January, from 7am to 6pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. SH96 Winton-Wreys Bush Highway near Dunearn: A road rebuild will continue until around 31 January from 7am to 6pm. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. SH96 Winton-Hedgehope Highway, near Browns: Work at Zwies Road for a highway rebuild will continue until 31 January from 7am to 6pm. Expect delays of up to 10 minutes. SH99 Pahia to Orepuki: Flax removal to improve safety and drainage will take place from 19 to 23 January, from 7am to 6pm. Delays of up to 10 minutes are expected. |
