Have your say on the toll proposal

We'd like your feedback on the toll proposal for the Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass in Canterbury. Find out more and send us your feedback using the form on our website.

When we build a state highway we consider whether it meets the criteria for tolling, and we want your views on the proposed tolling scheme.

Tolling provides a way for the users of a road to contribute to the costs of building, operating and maintaining the road. This means existing funding can be redirected to new projects, getting them started sooner.

We are now seeking public feedback on a scheme that proposes two toll points.

Next steps

Following the consultation period, we will provide an engagement report on our webpage so you can see the feedback we received. All submissions and feedback collected via the public consultation will be summarised and shared with the NZTA Board and the Minister of Transport to provide insight into the level of community support for the tolling scheme in the region. 

Feedback closes at 5pm on Tuesday 9 September 2025.
