Schulich Medicine & Dentistry professor Alison Allan has been appointed associate vice-president (research) effective Oct. 1. In the role, she will develop health research funding strategies, strengthen relationships with hospital and health research institute partners and support the Bone and Joint Institute and the Western Institute for Neuroscience.

Neuroscientists Adrian Owen and Karnig Kazazian, along with their collaborators, have developed neuroimaging methods that can now predict ICU survival rates and reveal the thoughts and intentions of brain-injured individuals.
