Click here October 21, 2022 Webinar Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Undercover Chat (UC) Techniques Tips and Tricks Hosted by the National White Collar Crime Center and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, this webinar will discuss how undercover chat investigations are used to help intercept child predators from victimizing children in our communities. In this webinar, we will provide an overview of the chat techniques used in child exploitation cases. We will describe different apps that were used and how they assisted in identifying the targets, as well as discuss some of the interview techniques that helped lead to confessions. When: Wednesday, November 8, 2022 DEA Success Story Seizure in New York On October 12, 2022, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York announced a significant seizure of fentanyl. Two individuals in New York have been charged following the seizure of approximately 300,000 rainbow fentanyl pills, 20 pounds of fentanyl in white and blue powder form, and multiple weapons, including a loaded Tec-9 semiautomatic assault weapon, an extended magazine, and a box of ammunition. This significant seizure represents more than 850,000 deadly doses of fentanyl and fentanyl pills prevented from reaching New York communities. Justice Counts Work Session Series Hosted by the Council of State Governments Justice Center and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance and Justice Counts partners, this series of seven sector-specific work sessions helps define the data elements to include in the Justice Counts Tier 1 metrics Technical Implementation Guides. Justice Counts empowers data-driven decision-making today while planning for better criminal justice data tomorrow. Criminal justice agencies are invited to participate in this effort by joining a series of sector-specific work sessions on October 24 to 26, 2022. These sessions will cover topics such as jails/prisons, courts and pretrial operations, prosecution, community supervision, defense, and law enforcement. VALOR Training Casualty Care Funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance and hosted by the VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness Program, this virtual training is designed to better prepare law enforcement personnel to deal with casualties during and after a critical incident. This presentation specifically addresses the need to eliminate the threat before administering aid, the dangers posed by preventable bleed out, the importance and use of tourniquets, and how to manage the airway and/or breathing issues associated with trauma. When: Thursday, November 10, 2022 New Toolkit State Advisory Groups (SAGs) Address Juvenile Probation Reform Published by the Coalition for Juvenile Justice, this toolkit is meant to be a new resource to help SAGs advance probation reform for system-involved youth. The toolkit aims to help SAGs better understand the benefits of diversion programs as alternatives to probation for system-involved youth. It includes recommendations for implementing probation reform and offers examples of SAGs engaging in diversion strategies. The toolkit suggests ways SAGs can build partnerships in their diversion efforts with youth, families and communities, practitioners, and policymakers. Did a colleague share this email with you?
