Conduct Research Abroad with Mitacs GRA
Looking to enhance your education with an international experience? The Mitacs GRA awards $6,000 in travel funding for a 12-24 week research visit to any of the eligible countries outside of Canada. Whether it’s for your thesis or a faculty-led project, this is an incredible opportunity to work on your professional development, gain critical intercultural skills, and elevate your career prospects. There are only 15 spots available so act fast! UHIP and Your Dependents
University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) is mandatory for international student and their dependents (spouse and/or children) who are inside Canada with them. If you or your spouse has since acquired OHIP or RAMQ (Quebec provincial insurance), then UHIP may not be required. Scan proof of insurance and email to uhip@carleton.ca to have your UHIP status assessed for potential termination with your student account being credited the unused balance.

Institute of Political Economy Event

IPE is hosting a lecture on Feb. 13 at 2:30 p.m. on: Guaranteeing Banker Profits and Student Debts: The Public Policies behind the US Student Loan Crisis.

Location: Dunton Tower 1524

Elizabeth Tandy Shermer is the 2023-2024 Fulbright Canada Distinguished Chair in Public Affairs in North America at Carleton University who will be presenting the lecture. She is a professor of history focusing on the 20th and 21st century US.

Writing Support by CSAS

Join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) this Winter Term 2024 for their Academic Writing for English Language Learners sessions on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pick and choose the session that works for you or join all of them! 

Next session on Feb. 14 will review passive vs. active voice in academic writing. Sessions are available hybrid: in person at 402 MacOdrum Library and on MS Teams.

Compete at this year's
Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition!

The 3MT at Carleton is a competition for graduate students in which participants present their research and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. Competition will be held on March 28, 2024. 

Participants will compete for prizes! First place: $1,000, Second place: $500, Third place: $250 “People’s Choice” prize: $150.

GRADflix 2024: AI Unleashed Edition

The GRADflix competition is back! GRADflix is a research video competition for graduate students in which each contestant submits a one-minute video about their research. This year, you are free to use any AI tools you like and submissions must be made by April 5, 2024.

Prizes! First place: $750, Second place: $500, Third place: $250, Honourable Mention: $250, People's Choice: $250.
