Finance and Administration February Newsletter Message from Lorraine Dyke, VP Finance and Administration It’s been a busy start to the year for us all and I'm sure we are all looking forward to spring! Over the last few months, the Finance and Administration senior leadership team has been focused on finalizing departmental budgets, as well as reports going to the Board of Governors. The university’s 2024-2025 budget goes to the Board on April 30 for final approval. A Coffee Hour is planned in early April. At that time, I will have the opportunity to provide information about the budget and the F&A context. We are also doing some planning around the implementation of the Finance and Administration Strategic Plan. More to come about that and the budget at the spring Coffee Hour. You will have received Interim President Jerry Tomberlin's message regarding the upcoming faculty and staff survey. On March 13, you will recieve a personlized email with a secure survey link. I encourage you to take time to complete the survey as part of your workday. Your feedback is important. Finally, I would like to congratulate all Finance and Administration staff who were nominated for a Service Excellence Award. Being nominated is important recognition of how our team goes above and beyond every day! Thank you for all that you do, your contributions are very much appreciated. Lorraine News Volunteers Needed for Carleton Emergency Response Teams The Carleton Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, formerly the Fire Warden program, has been expanded to include all types of emergencies. Each building requires a CERT team comprised of volunteers who provide support in the event of an emergency. If you are interested in becoming a CERT volunteer, please fill out this form. For more information about CERT, please go here. FMP Open House a Success Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) hosted four open houses over two days in early February. Faculty and staff who participated got a behind-the-scenes look at various areas within the department, including building operations, maintenance and construction, and also toured the co-generation plant. Participants were asked for their feedback about the open house event and it was overwhelmingly positive. A future open house is being considered due to the interest. 2023 Income Tax Forms Now Available Tax information slips related to employment income for 2023 tax year (T4 and T4A) are now available through Carleton Central.
