Clinical Trial Spotlight
Title: NCT04615910 A GLP-1 Receptor PET Imaging Substudy Within the VER-A-T1D Trial Investigating the Effects on Beta Cell Mass (Ver-A-image)
Study design: Interventional, Phase 2, Parallel assignment/Randomized, two sites, n=30
Intervention: 68Ga-NODAGA-exendin 4 PET/CT (both verapamil treated and placebo group)
Inclusion criteria: Age 18-45, new onset (within 6 weeks at screening), 1 or > autoantibody +, random c-peptide > =200 pmol/mL, willing to comply with intensive diabetes management
Exclusion criteria: Treatment with synthetic Exendin or Dipeptidyl-Peptidase IV inhibitors, Renal Disease, Pregnancy
Primary outcomes:
- 68Ga-NODAGA-exendin uptake the total pancreatic uptake by PET/CT for determination of beta cell mass [Time Frame: Change from time of inclusion to 12 months into treatment]
Secondary outcomes:
- Correlation of 68Ga-NODAGA-exendin uptake and C-peptide [12 months into treatment]
- Relative 68Ga-NODAGA-exendin uptake (uptake between individuals and between the two timepoints of imaging intra-individually)
