B-safety Tip! Button batteries can lurk in unexpected corners of your home, often in spots you don't typically check. It's crucial to stay vigilant about these hidden hazards, especially in items frequently handled by kids and pets. In Australia, an estimated 20 children per week present to a hospital emergency department suspected of having ingested or inserted a button battery. When it's time to replace batteries, be sure to do so on a high surface, safely out of reach of little ones. Quickly tape the terminals and store them in a non-airtight glass container until you can drop them off at your nearest B-cycle Drop-off point. Taping used button batteries makes them harder to swallow and reduces the severity of internal injury. Check out our Facebook for more information on where these batteries could be hiding throughout your home.
