Join this especially themed and extended Walking History Tour led by volunteer guides Jenny and Karen. Waverley Cemetery is a NSW State Heritage Listed site and is the resting place of many famous and celebrated individuals who contributed in many different ways to the local area and the nation. Forty plus monuments will be visited including Alice Muskett, artist and author; Elizabeth Ward, Philanthropist; Ethel Pedley, musician and writer; Lt George Johnston and Esther Abrahams, First Fleeters; Dorothea Mackellar, poet; Charlotte Sargent, pie maker; Sarah "Fanny" Furak, Olympic champion.
The Beauty of Liminal Space

Contemplating the transitional phases of life, Monica Norris’ new series explores the concept of liminal space. Transitioning between known and new understandings, in this body of work, Norris’ abstractions consider new beginnings and the liminal space that can be described as the journey between an old and a new story.

The Bondi Beach promenade featured an infamous nightclub during the 1930s, with police raids and arrests a frequent feature. Operated by two notorious figures of the Sydney underworld, The Lido had a reputation for sly grog, late night partying, and a variety of highly illegal pursuits. The nightclub swung through until the 1940s, and eventually the building it was housed in became better known as a community meeting place and beachside kiosk.
