Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Cross Country - Congratulations to all students who participated in the District Cross Country yesterday. Mrs Watson reported that our students all competed to the best of their ability and enjoyed the day. Please see Mrs Watson’s report on the day in this newsletter.

Thank you! - Thank you to Heather Telford for her kind donation of arts and craft supplies that our students used to make gifts for Mother's Day.  We are lucky to live in such a generous community.

Mother’s Day - Thank you to everyone who was able who came along to the Mother’s Day pampering afternoon.  It was great to have the school open to our community again. Thank you to Sally Kubeil for organising and running the Mother’s Day stall it was a huge success.

NAPLAN - This week Years 3 and 5 students will be participating in NAPLAN tests. Today they completed the Language Conventions and Writing, tomorrow will be the Reading test and Numeracy on Thursday.  Along with a range of assessments, we will use these results to drive our curriculum planning and teaching.

ECSI Survey - If you received an ECSI survey, could you please return the survey or a copy of your certificate by this Friday 14th May.

Parking on Anderson Street - Please note that when the school crossing flags are displayed the area to the left of the crossing (towards the Brock St) is a No Standing zone. When cars are parked illegally in this area oncoming traffic cannot see the displayed flags. To ensure the safety of our students Mark Stevens (Crossing Supervisor) will now be placing orange cones in the No Standing Zone. We strongly encourage parents to use our purpose-built Kiss and Go facility in Bury St when dropping off or picking up students. Thank you for your support with this.

Have a lovely week and let’s hope there is more rain coming.

Kind regards,

Libby Hamilton

Week 4 Prayer

God’s most precious art is the warmth and love of a mother’s heart.

We pray with gratitude for our mothers and all the women and carers who join you in strength, courage, joy, nurturing and understanding in guiding us to live a life as you taught. You become human through their work. Amen

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete. This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you. A person can have no greater love than to lay down their life for their friends. You are my friends.'

Students from our school will soon be undertaking, an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs.
