Western Business Leaders - NDIS Networking Thank you to those who attended our Western Business Leaders - NDIS Networking Event last week. More than 100 NDIS industry professionals joined us at the Healthy Living Precinct to hear about market changes, gaps, and updates within the NDIS landscape, connect with like-minded businesses, and understand how council can facilitate partnerships and future collaborations. Thank you to our speakers, Brendon Grail, Grail Group Consulting and Sharon Floyd, Engels Floyd Quality Consulting for their industry update. Following this, Sharon facilitated a panel discussion with local NDIS providers, Cass of Power to Move and Roisin of Behaviour for Learning, who have accessed support through the Business Support grant program. SALA Festival The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a statewide festival of visual arts held each year during the month of August. Once again, a number of events will be proudly hosted in our City. You can find the list of all of the artists and their creative works here if you search by 'City of Charles Sturt'. Henley High Entrepreneurship Workshop This week some of our local entrepreneurs joined Henley High School students as part of an Entrepreneur Round Table Workshop. Thanks to Craig Basford, Big Shed Brewing; Rebecca Paris, Australian Native Foods; Anisha Sanghavi, Incredible Smiles; Dan Kirk, gr8.me; Rachel Kammerman – Into Jobs; and Alana Pappas, ESC Rooms for sharing their business journey and learnings. This year the Digital Technologies class joined the Year 12 Business Innovation class for the entrepreneur workshop, with a total of 10 groups on the day. City of Charles Sturt Grants Program 2024/2025 Local businesses, artists, arts organisations, musicians, or live music venues in the City of Charles Sturt can apply for grant funding to develop and deliver new ideas, initiatives or projects in our City. Entrepreneurship Program South Australian Business Chamber is currently seeking applicants for the September intake of the SAYES and Encore Programs. You can learn more about how council supports participants through these scholarships below. Economic Recovery Fund - Small Business Energy Grants As part of the South Australian Government's Economic Recovery Fund, the Small Business Energy Grants program will allow eligible small businesses and not-for-profits to apply for grants ranging from $2,500 up to $50,000 in matched contribution. This means you could invest in new equipment or make energy efficiency improvements to your business and have the final cost subsidised by up to 50%*. Applications will open next month (August) on a first-come-first serve basis to South Australian small businesses and not-for-profits who consume less than 160MWh of electricity per year. Register your interest below to receive full details on eligibility and application criteria when available in August. Small Business Sustainability Support Program Prepare for the Small Business Energy Grants by attending a free Sustainability Workshop. The Small Business Sustainability Support Program has been designed to help you develop strategies to improve your environmental sustainability, and to build the skills and capability to implement sustainable business practices. You can register for one of their upcoming Small Business Sustainability Workshops, delivered by 2XE, to help guide their decision-making. Eligible businesses will have the opportunity to access a Business Sustainability Assessment at a subsidised cost of $500 (ex GST) within Stage 2. Energy Bill Relief The South Australian Government is partnering with the Commonwealth Government to provide relief of up to $650 on 2023/2024 electricity bills for small businesses. The South Australian Government has extended the energy bill relief to include eligible small businesses receiving electricity through an embedded network, such as shopping centres. As part of its 2024/2025 Budget, the Australian Government announced that eligible small businesses will receive a rebate of $325 from the Australian Government on upcoming electricity bills. Fearless Innovator Grant Program Applications are now open for the Fearless Innovator Grants program! Female innovators can now apply for grants to help grow and scale their businesses into new markets through two streams: Accelerate (up to $10,000 to accelerate a business) and Scale Up (up to $30,000 to scale up a business). The South Australian Government has committed $110,000 from the Research and Innovation Fund to help bridge this gap. Adelaide Fringe 2025The 2025 Adelaide Fringe venue registrations are open - it's completely FREE to register your venue and anyone can be involved. A Fringe venue doesn’t have to be an established theatre, pub, or club either. It can be a restaurant, café, florist, park, laundromat, caravan, warehouse, garage, cinema, foyer, anywhere, you name it. Key Dates

Adelaide Beaches Tourism Marketing SupportThe Western Adelaide Tourism Alliance of Councils incorporating the Cities of Charles Sturt, Holdfast Bay, Port Adelaide Enfield and West Torrens coordinate the Adelaide Beaches tourism website. The Adelaide Beaches website is the premier website for all there is to see and do and where to stay in the Western Region of Adelaide and you can be listed on it. Is your business listed on ATDW? The Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) is the national online platform for tourism information. Through ATDW, you can create listings for your business and products, which can appear on sites including australia.com and southaustralia.com.au.There is no cost to list your business on the ATDW and it is free to have your information featured on the Adelaide Beaches website. Treebate SchemeBuy and plant a tree on your property and we’ll give you back half of what you paid! Council will rebate you 50% of the purchase price of a tree you plant on your property up to a maximum rebate of $50 per tree. Businesses may apply for a rebate for up to 10 trees. Workshops run for three hours and are available both in-person in Adelaide and online, costing $55 per person. ATO Masterclass Series The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is offering a suite of masterclasses designed to strengthen your small business knowledge. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has also launched a new online learning platform Essentials to strengthen your small business. There are currently 30 courses available, designed to help you get the basics right. This new development includes a bigger emergency department, 12 state-of-the-art operating theatres, 14-bed Intensive Care Unit, new procedural suite and cardiac catheter lab, dedicated rehabilitation facility, South Australian Medical Imaging, and SA Pathology. Coastal Sounds Festival Check out the wrap-up video from Coastal Sounds Festival above! The 13km shoreline festival extended into Semaphore, and featuring 26 live music performances, art experiences, and dance workshops in 11 locations in West Beach, Henley Beach, Grange, Semaphore Park, and Semaphore. Coastal Sounds Festival 2024 was a collaboration between City of Charles Sturt and City of Port Adelaide Enfield.
