State Highway 1, Transmission Gully Update

Latest Updates

  • Road users should expect delays on Transmission Gully over the long weekend with lane closures and temporary speed limits in place for ongoing works.
  • There will be night-time road closures in place Monday 19 to Friday 23 January next week in both directions, see schedule below. Lane closures and temporary speed limits in place 24/7. Follow the posted speed limit along newly laid chip seal to prevent vehicle damage.
  • When the road is open, please consider State Highway 59 to avoid roadworks.
  • NZTA is aware of the Ed Sheeran concert on Wednesday 21 January at the Sky Stadium in Wellington, so road users going to Porirua, Kapiti or further north will need to use SH59 or consider taking the train. Metlink trains will have increased capacity and extra services running after the concert.
