We're writing to let you know that State Highway 2 over the Remutaka Hill will be closed for five nights from 9pm Sunday 7 March to 4am Friday 12 March.

The 5-night block closure is the fourth of a number of planned closures between November 2020 and June 2021. Closing the road at night enables our road crews to safely undertake essential maintenance and slip prevention works, for the safety of all road users.

Please plan your journey ahead to avoid the hill closure.

Free shuttle service is available for essential travel and night-shift workers. Please book in advance, email us at remutaka@nzta.govt.nz

Access is always available for emergency services throughout the closure.
