Paradigm News

A message from Matthew Bailes, Group Chief Executive - welcome to your latest newsletter
This spring, we shared two exciting growth projects with you. We wrote to you in August to confirm that our merger with Settle Group is going ahead. Subject to resident consultation, our plans to buy almost 3,500 homes from L&Q is also going ahead. As a bigger organisation, we'll be able to do more for our residents and improve services. Find out more from my colleagues in the video below:

In this newsletter, we:

  • Share your feedback on our performance
  • Invite you to join our network of LGBTQ+ Resident Champions

  • Remind you to update your details so we can provide the right support – every 100th resident to complete the form wins a £100 gift card

  • Share important tips so we can all stay #SaferTogether

  • Reveal the three winners of our gardening competition!

Your feedback on our performance

In April 2023, the Housing Regulator introduced the Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) which require all social landlords, like Paradigm, to collect and present data once a year in a standardised format.

This makes it easy for you to see how we are performing compared to other landlords and hold us to account. We have also chosen to publish the quarterly results of our resident surveys, so you can see how we’re doing throughout the year.

Become an LGBTQ+ Resident Champion

Would you like to help make a real difference for LGBTQ+ residents in your community?

Paradigm (soon to be SettleParadigm) are working towards gaining the HouseProud LGBTQ+ Pledge certification – and we’d love to involve residents who are passionate about inclusion, equality and creating safe, welcoming spaces for everyone.

If you're interested, please share your details using the form below and we’ll be in touch with more information about how you can get involved.

This is a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Influence policies and services in a way that considers the concerns and needs of the LGBTQ+ community
  • Ensure LGBTQ+ residents feel safe, respected and supported in their homes and neighbourhoods
  • Connect with others who care about building inclusive communities.

Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally (someone who supports and advocates for the rights and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community), your voice matters – and we’d love to hear from you.

Update your details and you could win £100!

We want to make sure we’re offering the right help and support to all our residents – but to do that, we need your information to be up to date.

Over the last month, you should have received either an email from Feedback@ParadigmHousing.co.uk or a text from ‘Paradigm HG’ with a link to a short form, helping us get to know you and your household better. We’ll also ask you to share some additional details, such as your ethnicity, use of English and any disabilities or long-term medical conditions. This information helps us to better understand the needs of our communities and provide the right services.

We may be in touch in the next few weeks to follow up and confirm some of your details.

As a thank you, every 100th resident who completes the form will receive a £100 shopping gift card – we’ve already sent out 12 vouchers across our communities. Could you receive the 13th?

If you have any questions, check the FAQs on our website.

Staying #SaferTogether

Five simple steps to check your fire doors

It’s Fire Door Safety Week! Fire doors are an essential part of keeping you safe. We check all fire doors every month but if something doesn't look right with a fire door where you live then let us know.

  • Doors should have a label to show that the door is certified
  • The door should have a window or ventilation grills and shouldn't have been altered or damaged
  • Gaps at the top and sides of the door should be consistent and around 3 to 4mm
  • Seals should be fitted at the top and sides of the door and should not be damaged
  • All hinges should be firmly fixed (there should be at least three), with no missing or broken screws
  • The door should shut firmly and automatically from any position – never prop a fire door open.

You can find out more, including how to report faulty fire doors here.

Electrical safety when doing DIY

When you’re decorating your home, remember that electrical wires run behind the walls. These wires usually go straight up and down or side to side from outlets and light switches so you shouldn't put nails or screws directly above, below, or beside them.

Putting a nail in the wrong spot could hit a live wire, which may cause shocks, power problems or even a fire.

Safer decorating tips:

  • Don’t hammer nails right above or below outlets and switches
  • Use sticky hooks or strips for lighter items
  • For heavier items, hang them well away from outlets and switches.

Safety reminders

We want to make sure that visits to your home are safe and comfortable for everyone - here's a few ways we can work together to make this happen. Please:

  • Shut dogs away before visitors turn up - even the friendliest pets can be unpredictable
  • Treat our staff with respect, we will not tolerate any verbal or physical abuse
  • Remember that phone calls with our teams may be recorded. This is for training, monitoring, and safeguarding purposes, to keep both you and our staff safe.
