House Democrats Prod IRS to Scrutinize Religious Nonprofits

A ProPublica report that the Family Research Council (FRC) is lawfully classified under the IRS’ “association of churches” designation prompted 40 Democratic House lawmakers to write to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig on August 1 demanding a swift review of FRC’s tax status. 

But the left’s real axe to grind with organizations like FRC is not murkiness surrounding their IRS designation, the details of which are clearly spelled out in official documents. The real objection seems to be that FRC and so-called "right-wing" groups advocate for biblical beliefs that challenge prevailing cultural dogmas.

While the most recent conflict between Israel Defense Forces and Palestinian Islamic Jihad concluded in a ceasefire, the threat of rocket launches against Southern Israel remains. In just over a year, CBN Israel has provided more than twenty bomb shelters in strategic locations around the Gaza Strip, providing a sense of security to those in the region.
