Calvary Noosa

Date: 4 February 2022

Dear Resident and Family Members

I am writing to inform you that no additional cases of COVID-19 have been detected amongst residents at Calvary Noosa.  However, there has been an additional staff case identified since our last update to you.  The number of COVID positive residents remains at six (6) and there are now seventeen (17) staff members who are have tested positive.

I am pleased to let you know, that in line with Public Health Unit advice, our James and Wales units are open to visitors from tomorrow 5 February 2022 subject to guidelines. Residents in these units are no longer in isolation and may move freely about their environment.  COVID positive residents remain in isolation and are receiving all care in their rooms.

We are liaising closely with the Public Health Unit and we will be guided by them as to when the outbreak can be declared over.  We anticipate our next email update to you will be early next week, unless there are any changes before then.

All units at Calvary Noosa are now open to visitors subject to the below, except Douglas unit where  our COVID-positive residents are being cared for.

Information and guidelines for visitors

  • In line with Calvary’s recent national visitor update of 29 December 2021, and due to the continuing heightened risk of infection, one nominated visitor only per resident will be permitted. This will be in place until further notice
  • Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
  • Visitor entry to the home is between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
  • We kindly ask that visitors limit their visit to one (1) hour.
  • The visit must take place in the resident’s room.
  • The nominated visitor is required to complete screening requirements before entry.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or for compassionate visits. Please speak with the home manager.
  • As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.

Thank you for continuing to work with us so generously to ensure the safety of your loved ones in our care. We look forward to receiving visitors back into the James and Wales units.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Cassaniti
General Manager Aged Care
