We're aware it's been a while since we were last in touch. This is a brief update to let you know the project is currently being rescoped. Construction is still subject to funding, timing and there could be more changes as we align the project with government priorities. Thank you for your patience as we work through this.
At the moment the project includes:

road widening and shoulder strengthening where appropriate
-
intersection upgrades as required, including new or improved right-turn bays
-
pavement repairs followed by a new coat of chipseal

new line markings painted as wide centreline (without median barrier)
-
installation of rumble strips (Audio Tactile Profiled ATP road markings)

sections of side barrier at high-risk locations.
A note on speed: assessing speed limits on this section of highway is a legal process subject to the new Setting of Speed Limits Rule, expected to be signed off by the Minister of Transport by the end of the year. (Direction of new speed limits rule announced.)
