Coming up this month

This month we are seeing Whiriwhiritoa Bridge construction get underway (pictured below), linking Klinac Lane and Maritime Lane. We are working carefully with Ngāti Rēhia as kaitiaki of the area to protect the Whiriwhiritoa Stream (see above) and its aquatic life.

At the moment, we are busy completing kerbing and footpaths on Waipapa Loop Road, ensuring good access on and off the highway and to and from other roads at the intersection.

The new ITM fence on boundary of Waipapa Road and along SH10 will be completed this month, giving more definition to the Waipapa Road roundabout approach.

The final layer of asphalt for the project is booked for April (details below) and will bring the road surface up to its final level, aligned with the manholes and drainage on the roundabout.

As soon as the new asphalt is completed we will proceed with final line marking of lanes, road shoulders and traffic guidance.

Final asphalt layer confirmed for April

Due to weather and supply issues, the final layer of asphalt for SH10 and the roundabout is now scheduled to be laid in mid-April. The asphalting work will cover the roundabout itself and sections of Waipapa Road, Waipapa Loop Road, Maritime Lane and Skippers Lane.

We will close the Waipapa Road roundabout approach overnight for the asphalting. The primary reason is that as traffic overnight is lighter, working at night minimises disruption for road users and helps us maintain a safer working environment for our crew.

We have advised our neighbours of the specifics and will ensure they have access into and out of their properties during these crucial works. Full traffic management will be in place to assist on Waipapa Road itself and a temporary detour will be in place to direct traffic onto SH10 and into and out of Kerikeri.
