Outdoor Worship Services

We will have an outdoor service, weather permitting, each month this summer. Please join us on Sunday, June 26th (Pride Sunday), July 24th, and August 28th. Please bring your own chair.

We will not have Sunday School on outdoor worship days.

Pastoral Search Committee Update

Thanks to all of you for participating in the focus groups and online survey; we had input from over 60 people. With that wrapping up, we’ve been finalizing our Local Church Profile, which will be used by prospective Pastors to help them decide if they feel called to our church. This document has been given to church council for input and we are in the process of doing the final editing. Please continue to ask us questions, give us input, and keep us in your prayers.

Sincerely,

St. Matthew Search Committee: Hi Baird, Karen Fenney, Janella Holshouser, Carol Honeywell, Roseanne King, John Kouns, Eric Lindberg, Dorothy Peterson, Emily Sancken, Bernie Tameling

4th of July Parade

Please consider participating in our annual St. Matthew Shopping Cart Brigade at the Wheaton 4th of July Parade. Alex Johnson has graciously offered to help lead the shopping cart brigade. The parade begins at 10am, so plan to arrive around 8:30 or 9am. This is a wonderful way for families to get involved and help make a difference for People's Resource Center and Interfaith Food Bank.

We will need people to push shopping carts to collect food donations, someone to drive the truck, and walkers to collect money. Please contact Erin Walsh at edbreit@hotmail.com or 630.660.4651 or John Adams at jadams1958@gmail.com or 630.235.3698 if you would like to sign up. We are hoping for a great turnout!

VBS Thank you!

MANY THANKS to everyone who helped cut flower petals and leaves for VBS! We hope you enjoyed your decorations. The children sure did! We are grateful for your help.

New Women's Ministry

We invite all the women of St. Matthew to join a new women's ministry, providing the opportunity for a regular connection time to deepen relationships, foster connections, and inspire meaningful conversations.

Mark your calendars:

July 14th at 7pm at Mary Henderson's home
August 11th at 7pm at Joyce Miller's home

Nursery Volunteers Needed!

The nursery is open! We are looking for volunteers willing to be the second adult in the nursery. We hope to have enough volunteers that you would only be scheduled once a month at the most. Please contact Kenna at kenna1@comcast.net or 630.209.5710 if you would like to be added to the list. Thank you!

Scripture Readers

If you would like to read scripture during the Sunday worship service, please contact Bruce Anderson at bruceanderson5959@gmail.com and he will add you to the list.

Greeters Needed

We would like to have greeters welcoming people again. Would you be able to commit to one (1) Sunday a month for a few months? No handshake is needed, just a smile and a "Good morning!" Let Wendy Fanning or the office know if you would like to be a greeter.

Back Bay Mission Trip - October 15th-21st

St. Matthew will be sending a group of volunteers to Biloxi, Mississippi this fall to work with Back Bay Mission. Volunteer opportunities include worksite construction, painting, helping in the food pantry, assisting clients at the Micah Day Center, and preparing food at Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen.

The cost for the trip is $250 per person, which covers the cost of accommodations (dormitory style) in the volunteer Mission house on the Back Bay campus. If you are interested or would like to know more about the trip, look for the sign-up sheet in the narthex. A final count needs to be submitted by August 1st.

Contact Jeannine Adams for additional information at 630.890.7690.
