Business on Redlands Coast

Economic development updates to support local businesses.

New festoon lighting to spark night-time economy

Redland City Council's Economic Development & Partnerships group have completed the installation of festoon lighting in Bloomfield Mall / Library Square as part of the Cleveland Revitalisation Project. The festoon lighting will support the Cleveland night-time economy, enhance public safety, and create an inviting space for community events and business activations. The area between the Cleveland Library Building and the Cleveland Sands Hotel is underutilised. The addition of festoon lighting creates opportunities for community groups and businesses to host twilight trading, night markets, outdoor dining, and cultural performances in a safe and welcoming environment. This project was part funded by Council and the Locally Led Economic Recovery Program (LLERP) with assistance provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

43 Redlands Coast businesses shine with top tourism honours

A record 43 enterprises across Redlands Coast have earned prestigious industry recognition this year for delivering consistently exceptional visitor experiences.

This figure marks more than double the number of local businesses that featured in the previous financial year’s Tourism and Events Queensland’s Best of Queensland Experience Program list — a significant boost that highlights the region’s growing reputation as a premier destination, noting that the 2024-2025 list also included Council-owned and operated venues such as the Redland Performing Arts Centre, Redlands IndigiScapes Centre and the IndigiScapes Café.

The Best of Queensland Experience Program assesses tourism operators against rigorous criteria including customer satisfaction, online engagement and commitment to delivering quality experiences. This year’s results underscore the vibrancy and resilience of the Redlands Coast tourism sector, signalling bright prospects for continued growth and visitation.
