Paths We Cross Greetings from the canyon where gloomy days and moist evenings and mornings continue. It is an exhilarating and sentimental season for Frido and I since June is a birthday month for Satchi, Coco, and BK. Last weekend, we celebrated Coco's first two-digit birthday, and we are getting ready to welcome Satchi's milestone teenage birthday in a few days. As a birthing parent to two unique individuals who present different life lessons, I am constantly reminded how each person who crosses my life journey is such a gift. Each encounter is a gateway for growth, especially the one that shines the light to challenging experiences. Last month, we sent Kei off on a trip to relocate away from Los Angeles. I meditated a lot on the sensations I felt while processing the news from Kei when she first shared the update with me. Each team member at BK is so dear to my heart, and I knew saying goodbye would be difficult for all of us at BK. However, through the process, Kei and I were able to manifest a way to continue working together. The new setup supports Kei remotely and together we are able to offer more robust support for BK's community members worldwide. While the virtual BK world is now tenderly cared for by Eunice and Kei, we also welcomed two new team members, Michelle and Amanda, at our studio in Altadena to bring additional support for our online fulfillment and Sunday brick & mortar opening hours. When visiting BK during our Sunday opening hours (12-5 pm), please take a moment to meet Amanda and Michelle. I am sure we will share more stories about them in the coming months for our global BK friends to get to know them as well. Please stay tuned! Trina's Notebook People interview with Susannah Conway was personally a delightful surprise. Taking Susannah's online course was the first investment I made in my early 30s to make sense of my inner world. Since then, it has been an unfolding journey. Susannah's interview story by Trina is heart-filled and lovely to read, and experiencing Susannah's words once again brought me back to check in with the 30 years old I used to be. A.C.'s story brings us close to their world of urban birding. Their diverse interests, which they generously share with us each month through their analogue stories, continuously expand my mindset and framework about the world. On this gloomy day, I am embracing all of the hellos, goodbyes, and everything in between that happens as I walk the paths. Sometimes those paths intertwine for a a long time and other times, they are short and sweet. Even the bittersweet moments and goodbyes feel so precious to me and I am so grateful for them. -wakako always a work in progress... Topanga // June 7th, 2023 |
