Pride Month funding available for community events June is Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities all around the world and a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come. Barnet will be marking Pride Month by providing funding to community groups to host events throughout June, with a larger celebratory event taking place in August. If you are a registered community group, you can apply for £500 to £1,000 to host an event. The closing date for applications for funding for Pride Month events is midday on Wednesday 10 May. Making London a greener city for all City Bridge Trust are looking to award Revenue Grants to fund local projects that take an equitable approach to mitigating and/or adapting to climate change. They encourage applications both from organisations that already actively focus on climate and nature and those that have not previously seen environmental action as a priority. Strong applications will show environmental consideration throughout. Applications accepted on a rolling
basis
Barnet Council's Community Events Funding Barnet Council’s vision is to make Barnet a ‘Borough of Fun’, where those who live and work have opportunities to enjoy life and celebrate the things that are important to them. Community Groups can apply for up to £1,000 throughout the year to host an event with their community.
Applications are still open for small charities and CICs working with people experiencing inequity because of their race or ethnicity.Eligible charities and CICs can apply for a three-year, unrestricted grant of £75,000. The Britford Bridge Trust The Britford Bridge Trust is a charitable trust that donates funds to a number of UK registered organisations and charities primarily involved in the prevention or relief of poverty; the advancement of education; the advancement of health or the saving of lives; and the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage, or science. Typically, the Trustees make grants or donations of up to £30,000 to a number of organisations each year. In exceptional circumstances the trustees have the discretion to award larger or
multi-year grants.
easyfundraising State of the Nation Survey A survey by easyfundraising HAS found that over 60% of good causes have experienced a drop in money raised in the past year - with 59.7% expecting the downward trend to progress as the cost of living crisis continues to bite. One-third said they are changing how they fundraise, with many suggesting that ‘online fundraising’ is the path forward. Cost of living crisis prompts strategy change for John Lyon's John Lyon’s Charity has launched a new five-year strategy to simplify its grant-making. Within this strategy, they have evaluated the Charity’s main grant-giving to ensure vital organisations last the test of time. Saying "It’s been crucial to create a long-term lifeline to help organisations survive a post-Covid world, the issues of which are now coupled with the Cost-of-Living crisis. "We knew we would need to look at how to support our groups directly after the impact of Covid, as well as the future to ensure their survival." Deaf Awareness and Sign Language Workshop Barnet Together working with Signs4Life are facilitating this online workshop to give individuals and organisations across Barnet, the best opportunities to connect with the Deaf community and how to break down barriers to communication. This subsidised workshop will give you the confidence to work with the deaf community, and learn where to seek help and best practice guidelines to support them, whether they are Children and Young People you support, Adults you support, members of your team or volunteers. Webinar: Pollinators' Nesting Habits and how to provide shelter Finchley N3, N12 Pollinator Project and Buglife have organised a webinar to share information about the nesting habits of our precious pollinators and how you can help provide shelter in your own gardens. Scarlett Weston, Get London Buzzing Officer, will be sharing the dos and don’ts of wildlife gardening so that you can transform your garden into a nature-haven and provide plenty of places for pollinators to shelter. She will introduce us to some spectacular species of

Saturday 13 May and Sunday 14 May See brilliant authors in person at our Literary Festival and find out about their books and writing. You'll have the opportunity to put your questions to the authors and have your books signed. A bookseller will be in attendance at each session. Hub Connections: Mental Awareness Week The next Hub Connections event is approaching! The Barnet Wellbeing Service, in collaboration with Public Health and Persian Advice Bureau, will be hosting a community event to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. This exciting gathering will bring together local residents, community leaders, and relevant services to explore how mental health impacts our lives and communities. This year, we will especially seek to honour the mental health experiences of refugees and asylum seekers in our communities.

FREE Upshot Barnet VCFSE With the support of Barnet Council we’re excited to offer eligible* members the opportunity to use Upshot for FREE for one year, then at a reduced cost of £200 in the second year, members will be offered a further year at a discounted rate before transferring to full Upshot membership in year 4. There is no obligation to commit to the full four years and you will receive free dedicated support from a new Upshot member of staff. We will be running online Upshot sessions every month. Inclusion Barnet highlights employers right to reserve roles for disabled people We were delighted to have the opportunity to work with Acas to update their recruitment guidance in order to provide more information to employers about when they can reserve roles for disabled people. Many recruiters are unaware that employers can reserve any role for a disabled person and we wanted to ensure that clearer advice for employers was more widely available for recruiters. Details revealed on events in Barnet for this year's London Festival of Architecture Barnet is a LFA Destination this year, with over 50 events taking place in June showcasing local histories, cultural infrastructure and inclusive place-based projects.
Alongside an engaging programme of activity, there will be two new public realm installations in Edgware and Colindale, which explore ideas of connectivity, greening, and access.
'Let’s Meet on the Edge’ by local collective Adrienne Lau, Daniella Levene and Leila Taheri will be installed along Edgware's Station Road. This was the winning design of 'More Edgware, Less Anywhere', a competition we launched in partnership with Barnet Council, Ballymore and TfL
‘Connecting Colindale: A Flight Path Folly’, by Andre Kong Studio and Wayward, is a direct commission for LFA from Barnet Council which aims to connect green spaces in Colindale, while drawing upon the district’s aviation history and connection to the Royal Air Force.

Summer Fair at the Tarling Road Community CentreThe YMCA are planning a summer fair on Saturday 10 June, 10.00am-3.00pm at Tarling Road Community Centre in for East Finchley for the community and its surrounding neighbours. Would like to get involved? There will be a limited number of stalls and so early expression of interest is recommended. For groups just providing information there will be no charge but sharing of space may be necessary. For groups selling items, there'll be a £30 pitch fee. Activities planned include face painting, karate, street dance, bouncy castle, yoga, DJ and coding. If you can offer any of these service please get in touch. Get Barnet TV to make a video about your organisation Barnet TV have launched a new Video Production Service aimed at helping small charities and communities create video content aimed at helping them promote their achievements, activities and impact in the communities they serve to residents (potential volunteers & donors) and funders. Besides the 15% discount we are offering generally (up to 31/05/2023), we are also offering an additional 10% discount to any organisations supported by Inclusion Barnet &
Barnet Together. As part of their offer, they will be sharing the videos they create via their website, YouTube channel and Facebook page to help create further reach & engagement.
HSBC Advice Sessions in Barnet Libraries During May HSBC will be running a number of sessions in Barnet Libraries on finance and banking fraud and scams. Get involved and have your say on the development of the Hendon Hub The Hendon Hub revised proposals include new academic and public spaces, as well as facilities for local charities in modern buildings along the Burroughs in Hendon, creating a pleasant environment that is safer, greener and more accessible, whilst regenerating and redeveloping council-owned assets like Hendon Library. The refurbishment includes preserving the library’s heritage features such as the iconic central staircase and the glazed ceilings of the upper reading rooms.
