Don’t let hesitation spoil the safari
Africa is open. Safaris are happening.
The %$^£ show in the Gulf has made some people pause, but it has not actually stopped wildlife people getting out to safari. Flights are operating, travellers are reaching all safari destinations, and while there may be some cost effects around the edges, the bigger danger is hesitating so long that the best opportunities begin to slip away — or letting another year go by because of what exactly?
So rather than send a routine update, read on and you will see that I have shared a few short videos on some of the countries and safaris we know particularly well, along with one more personal film acknowledging my own early inspiration from David Attenborough.

Dream of Safari , wake up in Tanzania
Tanzania is one of the great safari countries, and for good reason. Big landscapes, major wildlife areas and a real sense of scale. Whether it is the Serengeti, Ruaha or some of the more remote corners, it can deliver classic East African safari at its best, with huge variety in both scenery and wildlife.[Watch the Tanzania video]
Botswana has an appeal that is easy to understand. The Okavango, the floodplains, the dry areas and the high standards of many of the camps all combine to make it a destination that continues to deliver. Zimbabwe remains one of the most rewarding safari destinations in Africa. It has depth, character and some truly excellent guiding. Zakouma In Chad is one of Africa’s great wild frontiers, where huge flocks of birds fill the skies and strong concentrations of game gather through the dry season. From elephant herds to Kordofan giraffe, it offers serious wildlife, real atmosphere and a safari experience that remains one of Africa’s most distinctive and least understood. Should you go? A personal celebration
A lifetime in love with the natural world, inspired from the very start by David Attenborough.Every encounter on safari, every day in the bush, has carried its own magic. That early spark grew into a life shaped by wildlife, filled with joy, purpose and unforgettable moments shared with others. It also filtered down to my son, and through him into remarkable achievements in conservation.
The story continues. And for that, a sincere thank you to David Attenborough.
