Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Residents, Family and Staff,

COVID-19 Update for residents & families of Calvary Riverside Views

Following our last update to residents and families, I am writing to advise that through the current testing regime, an additional resident has tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number in the current outbreak to eleven (11) including five (5) residents and six (6) staff. Testing will be conducted again on Monday 24 January and we will contact you when these results are received.

Calvary Riverside Views remains closed for general visitation.

For the safety of residents and staff and in consultation with the Public Health Unit, Calvary Riverside Views remains closed to visitors until the Public Health Unit deems it safe to re-open.

We are however, pleased to confirm that residents in the Tamar and View Wings are no longer isolated to their rooms and staff are operating in N95 masks and shields in these areas.

At this stage, residents in Valley Wing remain in isolation and are cared for by staff in full tier 3 PPE.

We understand that it is very difficult for residents to be cared for in their rooms and not have visitors. Please be assured that our team will continue to ensure the holistic care needs of all residents are met and calls and video conferencing is available for loved ones to remain in contact.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the Manager of your Home to discuss arrangements.

Please be assured that our staff have prepared for COVID-19 exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and are focusing all of their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

We will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

We know that this will be worrying for you and your loved ones in our care. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to continue to look after the health and wellbeing of all our residents while keeping them safe during this difficult time. You can help us by sharing this information with your family and friends.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Sherryn McMahonGeneral Manager Aged Care
