Meet the team: Andrei Malabanan, Site Engineer - Fulton HoganCan you tell us about your role on the project and what your work involves? My role primarily involves overseeing and managing the day-to-day activities on the construction site. This includes quality assurance, coordinating with subcontractors, ensuring that the project is progressing according to schedule, and maintaining safety and quality standards. I am also responsible for interpreting blueprints and plans, conducting site surveys, and liaising with designers and engineers to resolve any issues that arise during construction. What are some of the biggest challenges you face in your role, and how do you overcome them? One of the biggest challenges is dealing with unforeseen issues that can arise, such as weather delays, supply chain disruptions, or technical problems. To overcome these, I rely on thorough planning, flexibility, and effective communication with the team and stakeholders. Keeping a positive attitude and being prepared to adapt is crucial in ensuring that the project stays on track despite these challenges. What’s the most rewarding part of your job? The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a project come together from its initial stages to completion. The sense of accomplishment when a structure is finished and knowing that I played a part in creating something that will be used and appreciated by the community is incredibly fulfilling. What do you enjoy doing in your free time when you’re not working on the project? In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, playing video games, and building model kits. These activities help me unwind and stay active. They also allow me to indulge in my hobbies and interests, providing a good balance to the workday. |
