COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary Ryde

I am writing to inform you that two (2) additional cases of COVID-19 have been detected amongst Calvary Ryde residents in the latest round of testing. This brings the total number of COVID positive residents at Calvary Ryde to five (5). We are keeping the families of the COVID positive residents informed directly.

All other tested residents returned negative results.

The next round of testing will be conducted across residents on Sunday 6 February 2022. We will update you on the results when this information becomes available. We anticipate this to be early next week.  

In the meantime, Level 1 remains closed to visitors. Level 1 residents are currently isolating and will remain and be cared for in their rooms. We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to lift the current restrictions.

Apart from Level 1, Calvary Ryde remains open to visitors subject to the guidelines below.

Guidelines and information for visitors

• In line with Calvary’s recent visitor update of 29 December 2021, one single nominated visitor only will be permitted per resident during the home’s visiting hours. This is due to the continuing heightened risk of infection and will be in place until further notice.
Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the home manager. The visitor is strongly encouraged to have obtained a booster vaccine if they are eligible.
• Visitor entry to the home is between 11.00am and 6.00pm.
• We kindly ask that visitors limit their visit to one (1) hour.
• The visit must take place in the resident’s room.
• The nominated visitor is required to complete screening requirements prior to entry.
• As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
• Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or for compassionate visits. Please speak with the home manager.
• We will continue routine testing of all residents, and to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19. We will update you again if the situation changes.
