How do we as Presbyterian Women impart love? Lacy paper hearts, precious poems, children’s drawings, confections, heart-adorned streamers. Valentine’s is a season to celebrate love. For Presbyterian Women, being loved, showing love, and sharing God’s love is central to our lives of faithful discipleship—and faithful friendship. On this inaugural Presbyterian Women’s “Do Everything in Love” Day, inspired by the 2024 Churchwide Gathering theme (1 Cor. 16:13–14), let us support one another and our shared PW ministry through connection and action. So how do we as Presbyterian Women impart love? Presbyterian Women’s historic and life- and love-giving Thank and Birthday Offerings make real God’s love for women and children through generous grants to fund important programs. Presbyterian Women respond to local and regional justice and peace needs through advocacy, action, and awareness-building. At the national or churchwide level, PW takes on a broad range of concerns, including poverty, racism, and violence, and supports educational initiatives. Looking to connect? Celeste Ng’s novel, Missing Hearts, will be the focus of the March 11 online Justice and Peace Book Discussion Group. Presbyterian Women is a ministry of welcome for all women. A by-invitation only, pre-Gathering Racial Equity Dialogue (RED) training workshop will take place, offering women a safe place to share and learn. The hope is that this RED training workshop will be the model for PW synods to start or continue the conversation. Gatherings—in our fellowship halls and over lunch, as well as times of larger community, such as presbytery, synod and churchwide gatherings—bring us together in shared community. Make plans to attend the 2024 Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women, August 8—11, 2024, in St. Louis! Our denomination relies on PW’s reliable and engaged grassroots network. And our neighborhood churches, sessions, and community centers depend on Presbyterian women’s engagement and care. Each of us is a living testimony to the promise of God’s kingdom.
