Important Staff Update: COVID-19 Exposure at Calvary Gympie Views

Date:   23 March 2022

To:       All Staff – Calvary Gympie Views

From:  Cassandra Schwartz, General Manager Aged Care

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately one (1) resident has tested positive to COVID-19 at Calvary Gympie Views. The resident resides in Brennan wing and is currently isolating and receiving care in their room. Other residents in Brennan wing were tested and no additional positive cases were found.

Residents in Brennan wing are able to move around but must stay within the wing. Residents outside Brennan wing are free to move around the facility.

In line with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, some visitation restrictions remain in place. Please see below:

Information for visitors

  • Visiting hours are between 11.00am and 6.00pm, with last entry permitted at 4.30pm.
  • There is no limit to the number of visitors allowed per resident, per day. However only two visitors are permitted at any one time.
  • Visitors will be required to complete screening requirements prior to entry and wear appropriate PPE (including face mask and shield) whilst visiting. PPE is provided by Calvary.
  • As a precaution to keeping residents safe, visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Thank you for all that you are doing to ensure our residents continue to receive the safest possible care with empathy and compassion in this challenging time.
