Our Next Meeting
Barnet VCFSE Environmental NetworkThursday 19 May, 10.30 - 12noon
If you've already been to a Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network meeting then you'll automatically receive a MS Teams link for our 15th on 19 May. If you've not joined us yet, then do email Ellen. These are informal and informative networking sessions for those working in the Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, where we can come together to discuss environmental issues in the Borough, and work out how we as a sector can make a difference. This networking group will raise awareness of environmental projects that are happening in the Borough, help to establish partnerships and joint initiatives and seek funding
opportunities. We'll be joined, at the May meeting, by Ashleigh Watkins, Town Centre Investment Manager from Barnet Council who will bring us up to speed on the work of the Town Team and how we can work with them. If you have any topics you would like to
raise/discuss at future meetings, do let Ellen know. FOR PAST E-NEWSLETTERS

Call to action!
Glass bottles and the Deposit Return Scheme
Keep Britain Tidy! need your help to get glass included in the Deposit Return Scheme. "Broken glass in the environment poses a significant risk to the safety of animals, children and adults. The UK government is currently planning to exclude glass from the Deposit Return Scheme on the grounds of Health & Safety. "At Keep Britain Tidy it is our view that the safety risks posed to the general public, and to wildlife, of smashed glass bottles remaining in the environment is a far greater safety risk than that to retailers trained to handle the material." They are asking you to write to your MP asking that they urgently reconsider that glass bottles must be included in the upcoming Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) design.
