July 5, 2024 PFS 2024 Highlights From Week 3Dear Partnership for Success Students, Families, and Friends, Week 3 of PFS has been nothing short of amazing! Our Scholars have embraced extraordinary adventures that are shaping their confidence and fueling their dreams for the future. We're thrilled to witness the enriching experiences and valuable learning opportunities they're encountering this summer, experiences that truly transform lives and foster a strong sense of community. This past Friday, our 5th and 6th grade Scholars had a fantastic time swimming at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena. Mr. Camargo, our PFS Site Director at Chandler, shared a heartwarming moment where a student proudly demonstrated his newfound swimming skills—thanks to the encouragement of his peers. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do and inspire us all. But the excitement didn’t end there. Our Westridge Scholars explored the wonders of nature at the Natural History Museum and Descanso Gardens, while our 8th graders tackled an engineering challenge at Glenair, Inc., learning valuable lessons from CEO Peter Kaufman about positivity and perseverance. Meanwhile, our high school Scholars engaged with prominent community leaders, including Laura Farber, a top attorney in Los Angeles and the first Latina President of the Tournament of Roses. They also had the privilege of visiting the Pasadena Courthouse and meeting local judges and legal professionals who shared their inspiring journeys and valuable insights. In another highlight, Muir alumnus Pablo Miralles visited our high school Scholars for Film Friday, screening his award-winning documentary and offering invaluable advice on pursuing careers in filmmaking. As we look ahead, we invite you to stay connected with us on social media and journey with us virtually in our summer 2024 adventures. Also, mark your calendars for our upcoming PFS Puentes workshop on July 9th, where College Counselor Cris Monroy will guide families on the path to college readiness. The workshop will be especially important for students and families of rising juniors and seniors. Information will be presented in English and Spanish. Please click here for details and to RSVP. Warm regards,
