Ōtaki to north of Levin update – September 2022

We’re working to build a new highway for regional and through traffic by the end of the decade, as we focus on making travel from Ōtaki to north of Levin safer and more resilient, as well as increasing transport choices and supporting economic growth in the region.

Crews will be onsite in October at the SH57/Queen Street East roundabout to finish the pavement layer, and you’ll have another opportunity to talk to the project team about all Ō2NL projects at our project office open day next month.

State Highway 57/Queen St East roundabout works

The new roundabout at State Highway 57/Queen Street East has been fully operational for a few weeks now and finishing the final pavement layer is ready to be applied as soon as we have warmer ground temperature. This work is planned to start on Monday 3 October and is expected to take six days.

Stop/Go traffic management will be in place for some traffic using the roundabout. Please use local roads as sign posted. See the map above for the planned order of works.

Please note this work is subject to weather conditions and the timeframe may change.

Levin project office open day next month

In late August we hosted a public open day at the Levin project office to give the community another chance to speak with the team. Thank you to the 30 locals who stopped by for a chat and to share their thoughts on the projects.

The next Ō2NL project office open day will be Thursday 20 October, 11am-6pm. The Ō2NL Project Office is at 171 Oxford Street, Levin.

We’ll have members of the team on hand to answer your questions about the new highway, what it’ll mean for moving around the area, and what it’ll be like to have the new highway in your neighbourhood.
