NACY 2025 Pre-budget Consultation Submission

Over the past year, the topic of employment and skills training has been top of mind throughout the non-profit sector. This comes in the wake of the 2024 Federal Budget commitment to conduct a review of all employment and skill training programs across government departments. Over the past year, we have seen a continued decline in youth employment rates and an over subscription to the Youth Employment and Skills funding program. This over subscription has led to funding cuts across the sector, and in some case the complete closure of important and thriving programs being delivered to those who need it the most.

As we head into the 2025 Election cycle, NACY will be continuing to advocate for permanent and secure funding for youth employment and skills development, including the expansion of the Canada Summer Jobs program.

If you have been impacted by funding cuts related to the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy and subsequent funding, please reach out to laurakathler@nacy.ca. We are developing our 2025 advocacy strategy, including election platform recommendations and need your voice around the table.
