Latest Funding NewsFunding for Events linked to International Women's Day and London Festival of Architecture If you are wanting to put on event in March for women and girls linked to International Women's Day or an event celebrating Barnet's built and natural environment for the London Festival of Architecture in June, then Barnet Council has funding available. Barnet Council Funding Opportunities Closing Next Tuesday, 28 February Mayor’s Community Weekend On the weekend of Friday 23 June to Sunday 25 June 2023, the Mayor’s Community Weekend comes to London for the first time. This is a chance for communities and groups to come together to celebrate London's resilience and diversity. The Mayor’s Community Weekend encourages people to engage with their local communities, bringing different groups together, strengthening connections and making new ones. For groups who'd like to run events or activities that weekend, apply for a grant of up to £1,500. Closing Next Wednesday, 1 March London Marathon Trust - Active Spaces Fund Funding from £5,000 to £50,000 for projects that will improve and activate spaces, places and facilities in London that will help the least active children and young people and marginalised groups and communities to lead active and healthy lives. Deadline: Friday 10 March 2023 Crowdfund Barnet Do you have an idea for a community project? Whether it be by enhancing high streets, neighbourhoods, or parks; or supporting vulnerable people and bringing communities together, Crowdfund Barnet offers a creative and collaborative way to turn your idea for a local project into a reality. Through Crowdfund Barnet, everyone can create their own crowdfunding campaigns. Pledges of up to £5,000 available from Barnet Council. Deadline: Wednesday 29 March Funding tender for local not-for-profits The North Central London Training Hub is inviting charities and non-proift organisations to tender for funding to support North Central London residents. The aim will be to support residents in pre-employment training, with the end goal of gaining entry level roles in primary care and other health and social care settings. North Central London health care employment funding Proposal deadline: Friday 31 March, 5pm Barnet Together 2023 Fundraising Programme Our 2023 Fundraising Programme is underway. Join us for sessions on Measuring your Impact, Raising your profile, Budgeting for Funding Applications and Barnet Insights. These fortnightly online sessions on Wednesday mornings will bring you expert advice on how to make the most of fundraising opportunities. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like, but we recommend signing up for all of them to get an overview of all the vital aspects of fundraising. Training & EventsNew Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Policy in Barnet Barnet Council are asking for your feedback on their new Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion policy. They want to hear from local organisations and community groups about how the policy could be more inclusive and representative of people in Barnet. Come along to a session we're hosting where you'll have a chance to hear more and add your thoughts. Monday 13 March, 11am - 1pm, Online. Hub Connections: Community Cancer Awareness The next Hub Connections event will focus on community cancer awareness, providing information about different types of cancer and the importance of early screening. Taking place on Thursday 2nd March, 10am - 12:30pm. At the Meritage Centre, Church End, London NW4 4JT. Lunch and refreshments provided. International Women's Day in Barnet Come along to the StoneX Stadium for a celebration of Women in Barnet this International Women's Day. The event will shout about and hear from the amazing contributions Barnet's women and girls are making to our community. The event is completely free and hosted by Barnet Council. Wednesday 8 March, 10:30am - 2:30pm Preventing Vicarious Trauma and Burnout training This training is for frontline local authority and non-profit organisations supporting Afghan, Syrian and Ukrainian clients. Delivered by Dzmitry Karpuk, a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist who has worked with refugees and asylum seekers for 11 years. The workshop will teach how to prevent and manage burnout and trauma in the refugee and asylum seeker population. The workshops are taking place across five dates and are capped at 18 participants so do apply soon! If you are brand new to volunteer management or would just like a refresher, why not come along to a free two-hour session covering best practice when coordinating volunteers? To celebrate International Women's Day, Fit and Active Barnet are hosting FREE physical activity sessions and a wellbeing talk for women and girls. A great opportunity for women and girls aged 12+ in Barnet Wednesday 8 March, 10am - 1pm at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre Women's Night Safety and Bystander training The Suzy Lamplugh Trust and L’Oréal Paris joined together to provide thier "Stand Up Against Street Harassment" training programme to UK audiences. The programme is an hour long and drives awareness of harassment, and empowers participants to be an active bystander in settings such as public transport, educational institutions, festivals, public spaces, and workplaces. Thursday 16 March, 1:30pm - 3pm Jewish Care is hosting a World Social Work Day webinar about the relationship between recovery, reform and reflection. News & Opportunities£29.5m redevelopment of Colindale tube station TfL has some exciting plans to redevelop Colindale tube station, including making it step-free and building a new atrium, with £29.5 from the Levelling Up Fund. This change will improve access to Colindale town centre, meaning local Colindale residents as well as visitors to get around more easily. Our colleagues at Inclusion Barnet are glad to have supported the bid by writing letters of support and sharing the campaign with our networks to rally more support for the redevelopment. Free TVs, Radios & Tablets WaveLength supports organisations who help people who are lonely and isolated, by giving free TVs, tablets and radios to clients. They anticipate that this technology would be used in communal spaces or as part of specific projects. United for Warmer Homes Campaign The United for Warmer Homes campaign is calling for support for people who can't afford to heat their homes and asking the government to roll out a programme of insulation and other energy saving measures in homes across the country. Your community group can sign up to get involved by taking action online or in your area. The Barnet Safeguarding Adults Board wants to find out barriers to recognising and reporting safeguarding risks. They are particularly interested in Barnet's diverse communities and any extra barriers that they may face. Deadline: Wednesday 15 March Fair Play Barnet accessible playground consultation Barnet Council would like to know what you think of the equipment and layout proposed for a new inclusive playground planned in Victoria Recreation Ground. The design includes sensory equipment, including Braille, sign language and communication play panels, multi games unit, a quiet hang out space, wheelchair accessible equipment and more. Take a look at the plans on the council's website and have your say. The consultation closes on 5 March 2023. Saracens mass foodbank donation Saracens are asking anyone who is attending their match against the Newcastle Falcons this Saturday 25 February to bring along an item to donate to the Barnet Food Hub, a Barnet Togetger partnership initiative. If you or anyone you know is going along, then why not take an item and take part in the mass foodbank donation that will support other Barnet residents. This is a great opportunity to say thank you to the brilliant groups and leaders who are making a change in Barnet. With Make a Difference celebrations taking place across England this September, now is the chance to nominate people for various awards, such as Volunteer Award, Community Group Award and the Great Neighbour Award.
