Whether you’re a new student navigating campus for the first time or a soon-to-be graduate returning to a familiar routine, we’re glad to have you here. If you need help reaching your academic goals or managing your finances, want to get a head start on your career, are looking for ways to get involved or want to better manage your mental health and wellness, visit the Current Students website for more information on resources available to you. Important Dates Tuesday, September 2, 2025: Academic Orientation Day. Wednesday, September 3, 2025: Fall term begins. Refer to the academic year calendar for all important dates and deadlines. Ask Me – We’re Here to Help Look for faculty, staff and student leaders wearing red Ask Me buttons to get all your questions about campus and Carleton answered at the start of the school year. If you’re not sure about where your class is, how to navigate the tunnels or where to go for lunch, just Ask Me! ![]() U-Pass The U-Pass is a discount transit pass for eligible Carleton students, offering unlimited travel on OC Transpo and STO buses and trains for those enrolled in 1.5 credits or more in the fall and winter terms. Your Campus Card and U-Pass are a combined card. If you previously added the transit application to your Campus Card, or received your card after Monday, July 1, 2024, your fall U-Pass will be activated automatically when you use it on transit. If you received your Campus Card prior to Monday, July 1, 2024 and have not yet added the transit application, you will need to do so at the Campus Card Office. Eligible students may request a U-Pass opt-out by Sunday, September 14, 2025. Health and Dental Plan The Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA) Health and Dental Plan, administered by StudentCare, provides students with extended health and dental coverage from Monday, September 1, 2025 to Monday, August 31, 2026. Students taking at least four courses (2.0 credits) in the fall term are automatically included in the plan through student fees. Students taking fewer than 2.0 credits are eligible and may self-enrol during the change-of-coverage period from Friday, September 5 to Friday, October 3, 2025. If you are covered by an equivalent health and/or dental plan, you may opt out during the change-of-coverage period and receive a credit to your student account. Financial Aid – Bursaries If you’re receiving government financial aid (such as the Ontario Student Assistance Program), you may also be eligible for an undergraduate bursary administered by the Awards and Financial Aid Office. ![]() Wellness Resources The start of a new term is exciting, but can also bring up feelings of anxiety or stress. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or just need a little extra support, there is always help available to you. The Wellness Services Navigator will match you with a curated list of confidential resources on campus and in the community catered to your specific wellness needs. The Mental Health and Wellness website is another great place to start, with resources for mental health, substance use health, spirituality and more. Have an RESP and Need Proof of Carleton Enrolment? Students who require Verification of Student Status to obtain their Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) funding can make their request electronically through Carleton Central (log in through Carleton360) by selecting ‘Request a Transcript/Certificate of Enrolment/Verification of Student Status.’ Completed requests are emailed directly to your Carleton email account within two business days. Student Registration Assistance Team If you need help finalizing your registration, the Registrar’s Office provides dedicated student registration assistance until registration closes on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The Student Registration Assistance team is available from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and can assist with course changes, building a conflict-free timetable, Carleton Central navigation and more. Get Connected, Stay Connected Download Carleton Mobile, Carleton’s official mobile app for students to stay up-to-date with the latest student news and events, navigate with the campus map, view your class schedule and receive push notifications for emergencies, grades and campus life updates. Follow Carleton’s student-focused account, @MyCarletonU, on Instagram, Threads and X (formerly Twitter) for news, services, reminders and updates to help you succeed in class and on campus. First Year Connections First Year Connections is a peer-to-peer mentorship program to help first-year students successfully transition to university life by connecting with upper year peer mentors for the first six weeks of the term. Course Materials at the Campus Store Get your school supplies, including your textbooks and course materials at the Campus Store, Carleton’s on-campus shop. Educational Costs Estimating the cost of a year of study varies from student to student and depends on the program and number of credits you are registered in. Tuition and compulsory ancillary/miscellaneous fees include classes, U-Pass, academic, administrative and career support, lab and project resources, library access, athletic facilities and supplemental health plan. The Educational Costs webpage has estimated fees for each program of study at Carleton University. ![]() About State of the Raven Newsletter The State of the Raven is Carleton’s official undergraduate student newsletter sent to all students registered in the current term to ensure the consistency, consolidation and simplification of all communications under the Student Communication Policy. To limit the number of emails students receive from the university, this newsletter collects the latest news, events, key dates, support services and resources from around campus to keep you up to date about what’s going on at Carleton. As the State of the Raven is an official Carleton newsletter, students are unable to unsubscribe.
