Resealing starting on SH1 this week
Kia ora and Happy New Year,
This is to let you know that you’ll see our contractor, HEB Construction, return to work this week for the scheduled reseal on SH1 between the Cam River and the SH71 (Lineside Road) overbridge - this is the work that was postponed from November due to inclement weather.
See below for the new dates and what's involved.
As previously advised, sealing work is weather dependent and if the sealing work is not completed this weekend it will be done the following weekend (21/22 January) - please look out for signs about changes to traffic management.
Following the chip sealing, the new chip will need time to ‘bed in’ so we ask you to be mindful of loose stones, to increase travel distances between vehicles, and to drive to temporary speed limits and conditions to help protect yourself and others on the road.
The new seal will have several months to fully ‘bed in’ before the contractor returns to complete the final step - applying high-performance line markings and ‘rumble strips’.
Thank you
We apologise for the disruption caused by the detours and appreciate your cooperation with temporary speed limits and other safety measures as you travel through the work site.
This will not only protect our contractor’s crews, but will also help everyone on the road to get to their destination - and home again - safely.
Ngā mihi (Kind regards),
The Project Team
