Canterbury Golf News GOLF NZ PARTNERSHIP INFORMATION EVENING Recently all Canterbury Golf Clubs were invited along to an information evening to openly discuss the invitation from Golf New Zealand for Canterbury Golf Inc to participate in their recently established Partnership Program. This evening took place on the 28th of March with representatives of many clubs in attendance. During this they were provided an overview of the partnership proposal, the due diligence work to date as well as participated in an open Q&A discussion. Any clubs seeking further information are encouraged to get in contact with Canterbury Golf. 2023 NZ WOMENS MASTERS - CANTERBURY Our Canterbury Women's Masters teams recently completed in the 2023 NZ Women's Masters event at Otaki Golf Club. Read how they got on below. 2023 HAZLETT CANTERBURY MATCH PLAY The 2023 Match Play concluded last weekend as the remaining matches were completed. Click below for the full event report. NEWSTALK ZB WEEKLY RADIO SEGMENT Thanks to The Elmwood Trading Company, each week Lesley Murdoch of the All Sports Breakfast Canterbury show talks with a different member of the Canterbury Golf community, shining a light on the various areas of our game locally. These interviews take place every Saturday morning, just after 8.30am. Recent interviews include chats with Kazuma Kobori following the NZ Open and Mike Hadley discussing the Christchurch Golf Club 150th anniversary. 2023 CANTERBURY SECONDARY SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP The 2023 Canterbury Secondary School Golf Championships took place on the 27th of March at Templeton Golf Club as part of the weeklong Secondary Schools Summer Tournament week. 83 player entries were received in total a record number for this event. In total there will be 19 different schools from across the region represented with schools having the choice of entering teams for the team’s event as well as individuals. All up there were 22 teams competing as well as 17 individuals. Prizes include Team Gross and Stableford as well as all players competing for the Gross and Stableford individual prizes. In the team's space, there was extra incentive with the top 2 teams securing a spot at the NZSS Final event later in the year to be played at Pleasant Point Golf Club. FUTURES CANTERBURY - GUIDANCE FOR PLAY & ETIQUETTE In the interest of continuously trying to educate new players about guidance for play and etiquette while on the golf course, we have recently introduced a short online module focussed on this. All new Futures Canterbury Hub members are now required to complete the Guidance for Play & Etiquette module when joining the Hub. Click on the below image to see this module. We have a full junior calendar planned for 2023 with plenty of events, interclub competitions, and tournaments for u19 players to take part in. Registrations are now open for our upcoming school holiday Junior Opens at Waitikiril, Harewood, and Ashburton. Our popular She Loves Golf series came to an end in mid-March after a great summer series where we had up to 90 ladies playing at different events.
