Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident, Family Member and Staff,

Calvary Flora McDonald Update

I am writing to inform you that of the (30) residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, (29) residents are cleared and (1) resident remains active and is being cared for in their room.

The resident resides in the area shared by the Brenda Keary and Elizabeth Etheridge Units.

Of the (34) staff who have tested positive, (29) are cleared and (5) are on leave.

What does that mean for residents?

Residents are moving freely within their units and communal dining has resumed along with activities including music, bingo, craft and outside dining where possible.

What does that mean for visitors and staff?

The Brenda Keary and Elizabeth Etheridge Units are in 'Red Zone' lockdown and visitors and staff must perform a Rapid Antigen test prior to entry and full PPE is required.

The remainder of units listed below are in 'Green Zone' lockdown and visitors and staff must perform a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) prior to entry and a NP5 mask and visor are required:

  • Joseph Tappeiner
  • Alexander Mackillop
  • Maureen Meaney
  • Bert Edwards
  • Julian Woods
  • Mary McNamara
  • Emanuel Solomon

How do I make a booking for my visit?

To ensure the safety of our residents and staff the following process remains in place for visiting:

  • Appointments for visitation must be made via phone (08 8159 7000) with our administration team Monday to Friday 8.30am - 6pm
  • All visits will be in resident’s rooms only
  • Visitors must perform a RAT test prior to entry
  • Visitors will be provided with a N95 mask and face shield, and for Red Zone areas you will also be provided with a gown and gloves
  • visitors are required to keep their PPE on at all times and not remove it when they are in the resident’s room
  • We ask you to please avoid contact with our staff during your visit.

At this stage, to ensure every resident may have a visitor and staff are on hand to assist you with testing and PPE preparation, we are alternating the days of family visitation with the days of  RAT testing for our staff.

With this in place all residents will be able to have a weekly visit.

The following appointment times are available for a single visitor only: 10am, 11am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm or 2.30pm.

Calvary is in discussion with the SA Public Health Unit to confirm when we may reopen.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Nicole Branagh, Acting General Manager Aged Care SA
