Last month, IndigiScapes staff and visitors were treated to a thrilling sight when a koala and her joey gracefully navigated the eucalyptus trees around the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre. They witnessed a joey clinging securely to mum as she leapt between trees. You can watch the video here. While koala sightings at IndigiScapes aren’t common, we've been fortunate to see a few in the last 12 months. If you're eager to spot a wild koala on Redlands Coast, here are some top sighting spots:
These marsupials are elusive creatures and can be hard to spot - try looking for koala scat at the bottom of trees, then look up to see if you can find the koala. If you do see a koala in the wild, don’t forget to record your sighting here. If you want to encourage koalas to call your backyard home, our Environmental Partnerships team is here to help. Our Koala Conservation Agreement Program works with landowners who have properties 1000m² or larger to create a koala-friendly environment.
