Taranaki state highway planned roadworks

Saturday 31 January to Friday 6 February

30 January 2026

Work underway on State Highway 3 north of New Plymouth.

Kia ora,

There’s a lot happening across State Highway 3 (SH3) north of New Plymouth at the moment as our crews work hard to maintain the highway and improve the resilience of this vital link for the region. These improvements are essential to keeping people and freight moving safely and reliably, and we’re making good progress despite some challenging conditions.

A big thank you to all the teams out on the ground for their commitment and long hours, and to the local community and travellers for your continued patience while this work is underway. Your support helps us get these improvements delivered safely and efficiently.
