Advent calendars

Everyone’s childhood and memory is different. In my childhood advent was a big deal.

The Christmas tree was put up on the first Sunday in advent. There were wreaths at church and at home with 4 candles in them. Those candles had names. They were called hope, peace, joy and love. There was also a special candle. The white one only to be lit on Christmas Day, the Christ candle. One more candle was lit each week. The world grew lighter. The light was coming.

Kakuma Refugee Camp

Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) has, as its mission, the coordination of programs which can openly and accountably offer help, respect and hope to those who, in any country and at any time, are fleeing from oppression, disaster, conflict, poverty and injustice.

One of its current programs is the provision of education and activities to some 200,000 refugees in the camps situated in the remote Kenyan village of Kakuma.

Di Eckermann is retiring

Since joining Lutheran education in 1988, Di has filled many roles and always with enthusiasm and gusto. 

Throughout her career, Di has led from the front and kept Christ at the centre of her daily life. Her personal faith is evident in all that she does, particularly in how she cares for others.

Leadership development program (LDP9)

LDP9 is due to start in semester 2, 2023 and applicants have now been advised of the outcome of their application. The LDP manager team were impressed by the quality of applications and the thought that had gone into them. The principal comments were also very valuable and we appreciate the support of the LDP from principals.

Principal Appointments

Karen Leese will commence as Principal of                St John's Lutheran School Eudunda from January 2023.

Jane Wiebusch will commence as Principal of Tarrington Lutheran School from Term 2, 2023.

 

Come to the banquet!

The call is out for schools, congregations and aged-care facilities throughout Australia and New Zealand to host art exhibitions on the theme “Come to the Banquet”.

The idea is to hold an exhibition in your local community in August 2023 (or as close to then as possible…).
