If a project involves people and/or data relating to them, no matter whether it's a research project or quality improvement project, you may need ethical review. Each project sits on a spectrum between research-oriented and quality-oriented and many projects involve aspects of both. We have designed protocol templates to suit different kinds of projects, including general research, clinical trials and quality improvement. Our protocol templates include a checklist at the end to help you and Research Office staff determine whether ethical review is required. Library New books! Research Office Updates Forms updated in ERM The Low and Negligible Risk (LNR) forms on Ethical Review Manager (ERM) have been updated to 'Low Risk VIC' to reflect recent changes to the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. Project reporting We are changing the timing of governance (SSA) annual reports. All reports are now due on ERM on April 30th of each year. Some researchers may notice they are getting a progress report very soon after their most recent one was submitted. This will resolve after the first year. It is important researchers also upload a final report when they have finished their project so we can close it off.
