Ministry with the Ageing Newsletter November 2021 No images? Click here Welcome to the November edition LOVE COMES TO LIFE when we see the image of God in every person - no matter how much age has wearied their body and mind - and honour them with patient care, dignity and respect Christian Care SundayThe LCANZ encourages every congregation to celebrate the ministries of care that happen in our local churches and communities by choosing one Sunday every year to focus on the vulnerable people in our midst, and the individuals and organisations who assist them. By taking the time to acknowledge, pray for and bless these people and places, we trust that the Spirit of God will inspire and sustain us in our future care work. The Christian Care Sunday resources aim to equip and support the celebration of care ministries all over the LCANZ, which are undertaken by individuals, congregations, schools, and aged care and community services. Below is a video to share with your congregation. Don't worry, we pressed record! You can watch all the webinars by jumping over to our Ministry with the Ageing Events page. Nominations are open for the 2022 Lutheran Nurse of the Year award. It’s time to start thinking of who to nominate for the Lutheran Nurse of the Year award for 2022. The award was launched in 2020, to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is recognised as the founder of modern nursing. It recognises faithful and outstanding service during the preceding calendar year by a Registered or Enrolled Nurse who is an active member of a Lutheran congregation in Australia or New Zealand. The inaugural winner in 2020 was Angela Uhrhane, of Albury, NSW. Last year’s recipient was Wayne Kroker, of Nundah, Qld. Nominations may be submitted by congregations, schools, aged-care facilities or other bodies or agencies within the LCANZ. Nominations must be lodged with the Lutheran Nurses Association of Australia secretary, Mrs Rose Howard, using the attached nomination form by no later than 31 March 2022.
