COVID-19 update regarding SH88 Dunedin to Port Chalmers safety improvement project work

Kia ora,

In line with the Government’s direction in response to COVID-19, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, along with our contractors and suppliers, work will stop on the SH88 Dunedin to Port Chalmers Safety Improvements Project, this includes the construction of the final stage of shared walking and cycling path between St Leonards and Port Chalmers, from 23:59 hours today, Wednesday 25 March 2020.

Our priority at this time is to ensure that while we close down the site, it remains a safe place for you to travel through or near. We will keep safe traffic management in place, as well as appropriate environmental controls.

Throughout the closure you can be assured that we will continue to monitor the site and that safety remains our top priority.

Waka Kotahi remains committed to keeping New Zealanders moving and we will resume work as soon as we can. We will also keep you updated on what this may mean for our project completion date.

All current traffic restrictions will remain in place throughout this shutdown period. Please take care travelling through the site and keep to the posted speed limit.

You can also email us during this period and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can: Jason.Forbes@nzta.govt.nz

Ngā mihi,
The project team
