Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

COVID-19 UPDATE – Further COVID-19 cases at Calvary The Regent

I am writing to unfortunately advise that following recent testing, Oxford Unit has now been locked down, in addition to Sherwood Unit. The Home currently has a total of eleven (11) residents and fifteen (15) staff who have tested positive to COVID-19, which brings the total number to twenty-six (26). Testing will take place tomorrow for residents in Sherwood and Oxford Units.

For the safety of residents and staff, and in consultation with the Public Health Unit, Calvary The Regent remains closed to visitors until the Public Health Unit deems it safe to re-pen. Residents in Sherwood and Oxford are to remain in and continue to be cared for in their rooms. As per our update on Friday 7 January 2022, residents in the rest of the Home are no longer confined to their rooms.

We understand that it is very difficult for residents to be cared for in their rooms and not have visitors. Please be assured that our team will continue to ensure the holistic care needs of all residents are met and calls and video conferencing is available for loved ones to remain in contact.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the Manager of your Home to discuss arrangements.
Please be assured that our staff have prepared for COVID-19 exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and are focusing all of their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

We know that this will be worrying for you and your loved ones in our care. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to continue to look after the health and wellbeing of all our residents while keeping them safe during this difficult time.

Calvary will update you again as soon as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Sharon MartindaleGeneral Manager Aged Care
