The Plastic ProblemThough some single-use plastics are banned in NSW and across Australia, plastic litter is still a major problem for our marine life. This Hawksbill turtle pictured above, washed up on Bronte Beach weak and covered in barnacles. and was rescued and treated at Targona Wildlife Hospital. Sadly, Taronga regularly treats endangered marine turtles affected by plastic pollution. Remember to be mindful of what you buy and how you dispose of your waste. Love the Coast Exhibition & People's Choice AwardWeaving together the work of 25 local photographers, the Love the Coast photo exhibition explores connections to our beautiful local coastline seen through the eyes of our the talented finalists. Vote online now for your favourite photo in the People's Choice award, and visit the exhibition. It's at the Waverley Library until 15 February or at the Bondi Pavilion from 16 - 18 February. Join us at our upcoming ‘Recycle It Saturday’ event and recycle and safely dispose of any ‘problem waste’ you might have – such as batteries, e-waste, small metal items and light globes. To reduce fire hazards, you can tape the battery terminals on both ends with regular, non-conductive tape, like duct tape, clear sticky tape or electrical tape. The next drop off event is 9am -3pm Saturday 24 February in Alexandria and open to all Waverley residents. Let's Get to Net Zero!This coming March will be a Net Zero Month of Action!
