Megan sitting in front of her habitat garden

ON THE BLOG - Concerned at the amount of disappearing greenspace in the eastern suburbs, Megan Blumenthal joined Waverley's Living Connections program to learn more about habitat gardening. Through this program, she received indigenous plants suited to her garden and connected with local, like-minded habitat gardeners. Get inspired to embrace your green thumb!

The Plastic Problem

Though some single-use plastics are banned in NSW and across Australia, plastic litter is still a major problem for our marine life.

This Hawksbill turtle pictured above, washed up on Bronte Beach weak and covered in barnacles. and was rescued and treated at Targona Wildlife Hospital. Sadly, Taronga regularly treats endangered marine turtles affected by plastic pollution.

Remember to be mindful of what you buy and how you dispose of your waste. Our precious natural world is counting on you!

Recycle It Saturday!

How many old batteries do you have lying around the house? Join us at our upcoming ‘Recycle It Saturday’ event and recycle and safely dispose of any ‘problem waste’ you might have  – such as batteries, e-waste, small metal items and light globes.

To reduce fire hazards, you can tape the battery terminals on both ends with regular, non-conductive tape, like duct tape, clear sticky tape or electrical tape.

The next drop off event is 9am -3pm Saturday 24 February in Alexandria and open to all Waverley residents.
