Student Q&A: Lauryn Allen

A passion for research and helping underserved communities gain access to quality health services led Lauryn Allen to pursue her Master of Public Health. Following a successful summer internship, she currently works as a graduate research assistant for a study focusing on cervical cancer prevention.

State of the University Address Highlights Public Health

Interim President Teresa K. Woodruff celebrates the Spartan community’s achievements and addresses MSU’s shared aspirations and strategic priorities. The sustainable health section of her address highlights the $25 million Mott Foundation grant that led to the expansion of our public health presence in Flint and becoming the new Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health led by Wayne McCullough as Chair. Also featured was the public health work of Jennifer Johnson who is working with Henry Ford Health and others to advance equity, health care access, and outcomes on grant-funded research that focuses on maternal mental health and suicide prevention.

Internship Opportunities 

 

Under Dr. Mona Hanna Attisha, Pediatric Public Health Initiative seeks to hire undergraduate and graduate interns for the summer of 2023. Interns will support all aspects of study and program planning, implementation, and dissemination. Offering part-time and full-time positions. Apply by February 28th. 

 

Pediatric Public Health Initiative has an open full-time or part-time Flint Urban Safety and Health Corps AmeriCorps position for this service year. USHC members provide direct service in the areas of food security and nutrition, behavioral and developmental health, early education, crime prevention, and medical management in Flint, MI.

Terence Gibson, MPH '17, was featured in MSU Alumni's latest All In series. He writes about what inspired him to change his career path and shares what he's acheived as a public health advocate.
