Right now, it’s all about building pavement to support the new 15km four-lane highway east of Huntly.
That involves bringing in 300,000 tonnes of rock from Waikato quarries and then 42,000 tonnes of Stone Mastic Asphalt which will be applied as the final quiet surface ahead of the road opening early next year.
In the July project update we look at what’s been happening in recent months and what’s left to do – including the installation of cultural features along the route.
We also revisit the 4ha wetland, pictured right, which has taken shape at the southern end of Lake Kimiha as part of the project.
