9 February 2022

Dear Resident or Family Member,

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families of Calvary Brighton-le-Sands

I am writing to inform you that one (1) additional resident has tested positive in the latest round of testing at Calvary Brighton Le Sands. This brings the total number of COVID positive residents to three (3), and the number of COVID positive staff cases remains at three (3).

I am pleased to let you know that residents in our Lady Robinson household are now out of lockdown. Preston House residents continue to remain in, and be cared for in their rooms for now.

Updated information for visitors

  • Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, one fully vaccinated visitor (Partner in Care), per resident, will be permitted entry to the home from 11.00am 9 February 2022.
  • All visitors will be supplied with the appropriate PPE (including face masks and shields as appropriate) to wear whilst visiting. Staff assist you with donning (putting on) and doffing (removing) PPE correctly.
  • We ask that you review the following video which explains how to don and doff PPE.  Staff will be able to support you if this is required when visiting. https://www.health.gov.au/resources/videos/donning-and-doffing-personal-protective-equipment-in-residential-aged-care
  • Visitors may be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
  • Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Our testing regime continues with residents tomorrow 10 February 2022, and we will update you when the results become available.

We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current restrictions. We anticipate our next communication to you will be after the weekend.

Please contact the home to book a video call with your loved one, or if you have any concerns. Care packages for your loved ones may also be left with security. Please label them clearly.

Our staff will continue to closely monitor all residents for symptoms of COVID-19.

Thank you for you continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Amanda Bennett,

General Manager Aged Care Sydney
