Day One Of OTTWA February Classic Clinic Cancelled Due to Weather

Off the Track WA and Equestrian WA wish to regretfully advise that due to the high temperatures forecasted for Saturday 5 February, we are cancelling the first day Off the Track WA clinic at the State Equestrian Centre. Horse and rider safety is our primary concern, and in line with the EA Hot Weather policy, we believe this is in the best interests of both participants and the horses.

Day two of the clinic, 6 February will be going ahead with a predicted temperature of 34. Riders have been contacted by EWA and given the opportunity to transfer to Sunday’s clinic depending on availability.

Please contact Tess at EWA directly through with related enquiries.

Kind regards,

The OTTWA and EWA Team

La Noir Equestrian Saddleworld Dressage Day is presented by Western Australian Dressage Young Riders Association. The dressage club is designed specifically for riders up to the age of 25 to encourage dressage as a sport and support junior and young riders in their dreams with the very best instruction and small group work.

This dressage day is an annual event for all age groups offering competitor classes from prelim to FEI and participant classes from Prep as well as club classes for our own members. We have a team competition for teams of 4 from schools and EA registered clubs, with lovely prizes and a club competition for our own riders. Plus a hobby horse dressage competition.

We offer lots of wonderful prizes and rosettes to third place, and ribbons in each class for the following age groups: 12 years and under, 13-15 years and 16-21 years. The competition is an interschools qualifier, leader board event and a qualifier for the DWA Invitational later in the year.

The 2022 EWA and Saddles Plus Interschool Equestrian State Championship Classes and Participation classes EVENT SCHEDULE has been released.

Entries are now open on Nominate until 11.00 pm on Sunday 20 March 2022.

This year, entries close 5 weeks before the event to enable sufficient time for qualifications to be checked, the draws to be managed, composite teams created and all the administrative work necessary to manage an event of this magnitude. We must advise that NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted.

Please ensure that you and your parents or guardian read the Event Schedule carefully as some things have changed.

Please also note that merchandise (polo-shirt) must be ordered by 14 March 2022. This is a week before Interschool entries close.  Our manufacturer requires a 4 ½ week turnover time in order to print, cut, sew and deliver their product.  They are very busy at this time of the year as sporting teams gear up. No merchandise will be available for purchase at the event, so please get your order in early via the link here.

A reminder that the Interschool Eventing Competition will be held in conjunction with WAYER, Brigadoon on 1-3 April 2022.  Competitors will need to submit their qualification requirements as part of their entry in accordance with the Qualification document.

Entries will close approximately 10-14 days before the competition. Please keep an eye on the EWA website for information about this and on K Trials.

Have you always wanted to sponsor something at Interschools but been too afraid to ask?

Now is a good time. We can tailor sponsorship to suit you. Cash and prizes are particularly well regarded.

We are friendly, we are helpful, email or call us on 9296 1200.

The annual 2022 FEI Online Eventing Risk Management and National Safety Officer (NSO) Seminar, was held online on 22 January 2022.

While all the National Federations are invited to share their Health and Safety progress within Eventing and across the sport general, only three National Federations presented, including Equestrian Australia (EA).

Equestrian Australia NSO, Meredith Chapman was in attendance and was the speaker for EA during the seminar.

Topics discussed included introducing Horse Form Index, frangible devices, updates around improving XC design, future of eventing (sport changes, social licence and biosecurity), horse welfare, medical updates and the 2024 Olympic Games.

EA provided an update on our Coronial Recommendations progress and roll-out. We also gave a brief overview of Eventing stats for 2021, and how Eventing is leading the way, with many health and safety initiatives now being adopted and implemented by our other disciplines.

Body image, breast health and nutrition are among the new educational resources being launched by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) today to support female athletes in both sport and in life.

The education modules are part of the AIS Female Performance and Health Initiative (FPHI), an Australian leading program launched in 2019 to raise awareness about matters specifically relating to female athletes.

Following the success of the first modules launched in 2021, six new topics specific to female athletes – body image, nutrition, bone health, pelvic health, breast health and low energy availability – have been added to the AIS FPHI online learning page.

AIS Acting CEO Matti Clements said: “The AIS is intent on providing a leadership role in supporting female athlete health and more

EWA gratefully acknowledges the support of the Department of Sport and LotteryWest.
